John Brown Road to Moab (from Gateway): As of Dec 23, 2006 the road is still passable from Gateway to the State Line. From there, the road has approximately 18 inches of snow. Probably passable when the road is frozen (early morning and night) with 4WD and Chains. Not recommended. Last year we made first tracks to Moab in early April. Even then we still needed to chain up for a 3 mile section that had snowdrifts and clear ice.
